چکیده

In recent years, essential oils (EOs) as alternatives to synthetic pesticides in managing pests have been assessed. The use of bioinsecticide in pest management is encouraged agroecology for a sustainable agricultural system. Essential Lantana camara L. leaves from different climatic zones Kenya were extracted by steam distillation and analyzed through GC-MS identify the compounds. contact toxicity and repellent activity EOs against invasive tomato pest, Tuta absoluta, were tested. toxicological assays performed following leaf-dip bioassay protocol, while repellency activity was using repellent response method phytophagous and data ANOVA test. It found that L. camara EO has good insecticidal with higher mortality (89%) on 2nd instar larvae dosage (0.01 µl/µl). repellence test also showed average (93.44%) effect µl/µl) EOs. According these results, of L. camara may well be sustainable, eco-friendly alternative synthetic insecticide T. absoluta program. Effect of two solanaceous plants on developmental and population parameters of the tomato leaf miner, Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae).

Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) is an important tomato pest that also feeds on other host-plants from the Solanceae family. We studied the effect of two cultivated plants, tomato (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.) and potato Solanum tuberosum L. on the development and populational parameters of T. absoluta related with host-plant suitability. Larval developmental time, pupal weight, mean fecundity and an ...

Chemical Characterization and Trypanocidal, Leishmanicidal and Cytotoxicity Potential of Lantana camara L. (Verbenaceae) Essential Oil.

Drug resistance in the treatment of neglected parasitic diseases, such as leishmaniasis and trypanosomiasis, has led to the search and development of alternative drugs from plant origins. In this context, the essential oil extracted by hydro-distillation from Lantana camara leaves was tested against Leishmania braziliensis and Trypanosoma cruzi. The results demonstrated that L. camara essential...
